The Geary Gallery proudly presents its March exhibition, “Spring in Paint,” featuring the works of Connecticut artist, Pam Ackley.

This March, we are delighted to present “Spring in Paint,” to bring the season to life through the works of Killingworth, CT artist, Pam Ackley. Grounded in traditional painting methods and shaped by contemporary design, Ackley’s work combines structured form with an organic, reactive approach to color and value. Her nuanced use of light and shadow not only defines form but evokes mood and emotional resonance. The exhibition runs March 4–28. Admission is free and open to all.

About Pam Ackley

Pam Ackley was born and raised in Greenwich Village, New York and received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Marymount Manhattan and a master’s degree in clinical social work from New York University.

In 1991, she moved to New Canaan, CT where she and her husband raised their son.

In 2006, she began her artistic journey at Silvermine School of Art, where she met and studied with two masters. She studied still life painting with an instructor from Art Institute of Moscow for eight years. Ackley simultaneously studied portraiture, figure, and still life painting with several instructors from the Florence Academy of Art. Since portraiture was her focus, she was taught in the academic tradition of The Florence Academy and their curriculum.

Ackley was co-founder and model coordinator for the New Street Guild of Artists (NSGA) for 11 years, a group of like-minded artists who shared a studio and painted the model from life twice a week, year-round.

Ackley states, “While my paintings adhere to the traditional, I often incorporate contemporary design. This is accomplished by combining structure of form along with an organic, reactive approach to color and value. Light and shadow intrigue me and are essential in not only describing form but creating mood/emotion in my paintings and drawings.”

Her mediums of choice are oil and charcoal and she considers herself to be primarily a tonalist.

Ackley is an elected member of the Silvermine Guild and Connecticut Women Artists and has shown her work throughout Fairfield County. She is currently represented by galleries in Connecticut and Rhode Island.

She resides in Killingworth, CT with her husband and dogs and creates in her private studio.
