The real subject of my paintings is light as it falls across forms. I strive to capture the essence and spirit of a subject. I paint obscured areas of shadow to create intrigue as to evoke a response from the viewer to solve the puzzle. My portfolio is quite diverse because I’ve always embraced the challenges of trying different mediums, techniques and subjects. For me, painting is the act of perceptive observation–the art of seeing. I believe a good painting has a little mystery, some vagueness, and some fantasy. My work has been mostly representational in the past but more recently, I have been painting more abstractly and I’m excited to see where I can take it.
